My name is Amrin. And this café is the proof that hope is real and if you refuse to give up on yourself, all your questions will have the answers.
I came to Canada from India in 2011 as an international student. Like many of you, I arrived with big dreams and a heavy suitcase. I worked until my bones ached, swallowed the loneliness of empty rooms, navigated the quiet betrayal of people I trusted, faced days where giving up seemed easier than taking another breath and learned to smile even when things were falling apart.
Then came the day that completely broke me.
It was the day before my birthday. For the first time in five years, my parents were finally visiting me. While they were busy preparing a beautiful birthday dinner for me, I was frozen, staring at a deportation letter from Canadian Immigration. In the span of a single heartbeat, my world collapsed. I was told my time was up. I was ordered to leave Canada immediately....it shattered my world.
You can let a moment like that destroy you, or you can let it rebuild you. I refused to let a piece of paper write my ending. I fought back with the only weapon I had left: Hope. That blind, stubborn hope carried me from a deportation notice to walking the stage as a Miss Canada Finalist.
And then, the universe gave me my miracle.
Years later, on that exact same date - my birthday - I was handed a very different piece of paper. I didn't get a letter telling me to leave. I signed the lease to open this cafe.
Somewhere along this journey, I realized something important.
We live in a world that constantly tells us to be strong. To hide our tears. To "keep going." But.......
I realized that whether we are completely broken or bursting with joy, we all crave the exact same thing: A place to belong.
That is why You N Me exists. It is a sanctuary for your sadness and a stage for your happiness.

I built this space because I genuinely, deeply care about the people who feel invisible. Right now, there is someone in our community sitting in silence, maybe having a day so dark they are ready to give up, or are completely out of hope, wondering if they even matter.
I built this space specifically for them - to give them a place where they are seen, safe, and valued, a place that will look them in the eye and say, "Please, do not give up on yourself." But I am just one person, and I cannot reach them all alone.
I am asking for your help. I need you to be my voice. Please, help me find them. Tell the friend who has been quiet lately. Tell the stranger who looks like they are carrying the weight of the world or anyone who is silently fighting a hard battle. Please, help me spread the word.
